Professional Accra Airport Customs Clearance Requirements
Goods exported to Ghana:
Must show at least 6-digit H.S. Code for each type of cargo in the bill of lading cargo description;
All imported vehicles must show the vehicle identification number, engine number, date of manufacture, and model in the bill of lading and manifest;
All goods transshipped to a third country through Ghana ports must show the transshipment terms in the description of the bill of lading, and the consignee address of the bill of lading at this time must be located in the destination country;
Ocean freight, THC/DOC at the port of departure, and other Local Charges cannot be paid (that is, the bill of lading freight can only be prepaid).
Documents to be submitted when importing goods.
Original ocean bill of lading or air waybill, verified export invoice, packing list, import customs declaration, import commodity classification, valuation report, duty payment certificate, taxpayer ID number, and other relevant licenses and qualifications.
2. The customs clearance process of imported goods.
①The importer purchases the "Import Customs Declaration (IDF)" from the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Ghana or 10 authorized local banks in Ghana;
②The importer submits the completed "Import Declaration Form (IDF)" to the DIC (DIC) according to the source country of the imported goods;
③ After the electronic declaration or submission of the SAD application takes effect, the importer pays the import tariff to the authorized bank;
④The importer submits the custody and tax payment certificate to the customs;
⑤ Customs officers inspect and release imported goods at the cargo yard. The methods of customs inspection of imported goods include scanner inspection and manual inspection;
⑥ Customs issues a customs clearance certificate to the importer.
3. The types of commodities that are prohibited or restricted from being imported.
①According to the laws of Ghana, the import of the following products is prohibited.
Narcotics, sedatives; mailed munitions; medicated soaps containing mercury iodide; toxic wastes; pollutants; disease-infected animals and animal carcasses; disease-infested plants and seeds; foreign soil; made of combustible plastic or similar Beads made of material; raw coffee imported by land or inland river; counterfeit banknotes and coins of any country; products and similar articles or publications with defamatory, obscene and pornographic content; with counterfeit trademarks or violations of Goods subject to any copyright laws; dangerous weapons such as switch knives and paper knives; medicines imported by land or inland rivers; other goods that are prohibited from being imported by Ghanaian law.
② Before the import of restricted goods, the import license, approval, or certificate issued by the relevant competent authority must be obtained. Imports of the following items are restricted: British gold coins; raw or uncut diamonds; weapons and ammunition; all communications equipment; medicines; films imported from any port other than KOTOKA International Airport in Tema, Tacrates, or the capital city of Accra Films; merchandise with designs imitating currency designs; handcuffs; machinery and equipment for replicating keys; condensed milk with a milk fat content of less than 8% and milk powder with a milk fat content of less than 26%; gambling machines; live plants and animals; game animals nets and traps; mercury; poultry products (imported from specific countries); calico (batik) is classified as a "high-risk cargo" and is only allowed to be imported through the Ghana port of Takrates, Tema and international airports, All checked manually.
